On 16 February 2026, Fisheries Certificate students underwent practical training for the Fisheries Resource Management Course at the Tanjung Fishermen Base in Kuala Terengganu.
During this session, the students conducted interviews with local fishermen to gather information regarding fishing operations, resource management, and the current challenges faced by the fisheries industry. Additionally, they were exposed to fishing boat measurement methods to deepen their understanding of technical aspects and compliance with fisheries regulations.
This practical training provided the students with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge directly in the field, thereby strengthening their understanding of sustainable and competitive fisheries resource management.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the fishermen who generously took the time to share their knowledge and valuable experiences with the students. Firsthand insights from these industry practitioners are highly significant, providing a true reflection of the challenges, realities, and best practices within the capture fisheries sector.
We hope that the strong collaboration and close relationship between the academy and the fishing community will continue, aiming to produce a competent and ethical skilled workforce that truly understands the actual needs of the industry.
