Malaysian Fisheries Academy (APM) is a Skills Institution responsible for developing integrated training modules and human capital for staff, trainees, and target groups. As an established institution, APM consistently takes proactive and responsive measures in line with government aspirations through these integrated training modules, which are meticulously structured into short-term and long-term courses.

In line with its status as an Accredited Centre under the Agricultural Capacity Building and Training Division (BPKLP) offering certification in Capture Fisheries Technology skills, APM focuses on technical skills and human development based on the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS) to elevate the quality of the fisheries sector, particularly in meeting the needs of target groups. Furthermore, the offering of the Fisheries Certificate Programme (MQA/FA7564) expands opportunities for SPM and SPMV school leavers through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience across four core areas: Capture Fisheries, Aquaculture, Biosecurity, and Post-Harvest Fisheries Product Management, aiming to produce a skilled and competitive workforce. This programme encourages the younger generation to enter the fisheries sector as skilled workers and commercial, large-scale fishery entrepreneurs through the use of appropriate, cutting-edge technologies to boost quality and productivity.

Every civil servant at APM must remain proactive and committed, aligned with APM’s motto: “CENTRE OF KNOWLEDGE EXCELLENCE”. This motto serves as a catalyst and guiding principle for all APM civil servants in delivering services focused on producing competent, skilled trainees through practical training, projects, and simulations. Additionally, APM programmes focus on training aimed at enhancing knowledge and skills, building personal character and resilience among trainees, and enforcing workplace safety practices.

Information Technology is an effective and modern medium. This website provides APM with a platform to easily and accurately disseminate information regarding past, ongoing, and upcoming activities. As the Director of APM, I hope the information shared through this website offers a clearer understanding of APM’s role and function in realizing government aspirations, thereby driving the fisheries sector to become a sustainable and competitive national food industry. It is also hoped that this website serves as a source of information and inspiration for the fisheries community, particularly fishermen, fisheries industry workers, and industry employers nationwide. May the government’s noble efforts to secure a harmonious, prosperous, and meaningful life for the fisheries community be achieved with distinction.
